About us
The purpose of this group is:
- To socialise with people interested in free software issues
- To encourage free software advocates to keep up the good work
- To share knowledge and experience, eg. understanding free software licensing or convincing your boss to release code under a free software license
- A discussion and action group on local free software issues, eg. that software by the Australian Tax Office is proprietary
We aim to fill a niche that complements GNU/Linux user groups like the Linux Users of Victoria or the Melbourne Linux Users Group You may also enjoy participating in one or both of these groups.
Mailing list
We run a low traffic mailing list. Please join the list and say hi!
Monthly discussion group
Each month (third Thursday), we choose one or more free software issues for discussion. It is a relaxed "sit around and chat" type event. No prior knowledge is expected. Hope to see you there!
